BioBridge has supported British Antarctic Survey’s DATA AS ART project https://www.bas.ac.uk/project/data-as-art/ by buying one of the photographic artworks, Volcanic Ash. It shows a section of ice core from James Ross Island, Antarctica, from a depth of almost 280m, over 900 feet. The vertical dark stripe, visible in the centre, is a layer of volcanic ash embedded in the ice. DATA AS ART celebrates BAS science at the poles, NERC-funded research and highlight NERC’s 50th anniversary year.
